About Us

statement of faith

1 - There is only 1 God, who has revealed His Person and His character to mankind in:

  • Creation (Roms1:20; Psalm 19)
  • Conscience (Rom2:15ff)
  • Covenant (Rom3:2ff)
  • By His inspired Word the Bible (1 Tim 3:16; 2 Peter 1:19ff; 1 Peter 1:11; Heb 4:12)
  • By His Incarnate Word Jesus Christ (John 1:1-2; 1:14,18; Col2:9; Hebrews 1:1ff)

2 - The triune nature of God, expressed as a unity of 3 discernable personalities:

  • God the Father (1Chron29:10; Ps89:26; John1:18, 13:3; Rom15:6; Gal1:1)
  • God the Son (Job 19:25-26; Ps110:1ff; Isa 7:14, 9:6,7, 40:3; Jer23:5,6; Micah 5:2; Zech 6:12-13; Matt 1:23; John 8:24;10:30,33; 20:28; Titus2:13; Phil2:6; Col 1:15; 2Peter1:1; Rev1:8; 22:13) and
  • God the Holy Spirit (Gen1:2; Joel 2:28; Matt3:16; Acts5:3; Eph4:30)

all three persons being in essence Divine and co-equal (John10:30; 14:15-25; Eph1:4-13; 1John 4:12-16).

3 - The divine inspiration of Holy Scripture (1Tim 3:16; 1 peter1:11; 2 Peter 1:19-21) and consequently:

  • The supreme authority of the scriptures in all matters of faith and conduct (Isa 8:20; 55:11; Matt4:6-11; John 5:39)
  • The sufficiency of scripture for Christian life and conduct (2Tim 3:15-17)
  • The ability of God to speak personally, powerfully, practically and with particular relevance to His people today by His inspired Word (1 Peter 2:1-4; 1 Co 14:25; Psalm 119)
  • The enduring value of the Word of God (Matt 5:18) which remains with an abiding relevance for us today (Rom 15:4).

4 - The absolute sovereignty of God over all things in:

  1. Election to eternal Salvation (John 6:37, 44, 63-65; 10:3-4, 26-27; 17:2, 6, Romans 8:29ff; 9:15ff; Ephesians 1:4; 1 Peter 1:2)
  2. Reprobation or the appointment according to the eternal counsels of God of the lost to their eternal destiny (Prov 16:4; John 16:39ff; Romans 9:18ff; 1 Peter 2:8)
  3. His plan of Salvation (Acts3; 1 Peter 1:20)
  4. Providence in general (Dan 4:17,25; Rom 8:28; Eph 1:11)
  5. The plans and purposes of God for His people in particular (Rom 8:28ff; Rom 5:1-5; 1 Peter 1:7)
  6. Ultimately in all things (Eph 1:11)

5 - God created the world in 6 literal days (Genesis Chp1) out of nothing (Heb11:1-3) by the Word of His Power (John 1:1-3; Psalm 19:1-6) and not by any intermediary process such as evolution (Heb11:3; 2 Peter3:3-6).

6 - The sinfulness and guilt of man, making him subject to God’s wrath and condemnation (Gen3; John 3:18; Rom 3:23; Heb 6:2; Rev 20:11-15)

7 - The substitutionary sacrifice of the incarnate Son of God as the sole and all-sufficient ground of redemption from the guilt and power of sin, and from God’s wrath and condemnation (Roms3:21-26; Heb9:26-28; 1Peter2:24, 3:18; 1John2:2)

8 - The justification of the sinner solely by the grace of God through faith in Christ crucified and risen from the dead (Rom3:21-26, 4:25; 5:15-21; Gal2:16; Eph2:8,9)

9 - The regenerating (John6:63; Rom8:10), illuminating (John16:13; 1John 2:20), indwelling (John14:15-17; Rom8:9,10; Eph1:13; 1John4:13) and sanctifying (1 Co6:19,20; 2Thess2:13; 1Peter1:2)  work of God the Holy Spirit.

10 - The imminent return of Christ for believers (John11:26; 14:1-3; 1Thess 4:13-5:11; 2Thess 2:6,7; Rev22:7, 12, 16)

11 - The personal, visible return of the Lord Jesus Christ in power and glory to judge the world (Matt24; 2Thess 1:7-10; Rev19)

12 - The bodily resurrection of all mankind (Dan 12:1-4), the believer to life everlasting (John 11:25,26; 1Thess 4:13-18) and the unbeliever to eternal damnation (Matt 9:46-48; Heb 6:2; Rev 20:11-15).

13 - The Church as consisting of all truly born again (regenerate) believers in the Lord Jesus Christ (Acts 2:47; 1 Peter 2:4)

14 - The one universal Church as being expressed locally in autonomous companies of Christians gathered to the name of the Lord Jesus Christ, existing in dependence upon Christ and drawing authority from Christ (1 Co 5:4) whilst independent of human organisational forms, structures and hierarchies (Matt 18:20; 1 Co5 :4; 1 John 1:3; Rev 1:13ff)

15 - The truth of believers baptism (Acts 2:38,41; 8:12,13; 8:36ff) by immersion (Acts 8:38; Rom 6:4ff) upon confession of faith in the Lord Jesus Christ (Acts 2:41) as an act of obedience to Christ (Matt 28:19),  identifying the believer publicly with Christ personally (Acts 8:16; 1 Co10:1ff; ) and symbolically with Christs death burial and resurrection (Rom 6:4ff). This baptism is not causal with respect to  salvation nor is it a work which contributes to the believers salvation (Eph2:8; Rom 3:28; Titus 3:5) nor to his regeneration (Luke 23:42-43; 1 Co 1:16-17) but rather as the outer expression of an inner work of God already wrought in the human conscience (1 Peter 3:21).
